Job Summary
Senior HRBP to serve as a strategic advisor to founders and leaders across technical and non-technical teams. Own the full employee lifecycle, stand up our first people systems, and drive organizational effectiveness, performance management, and talent strategy. Build and scale foundational HR infrastructure from scratch—including onboarding, leveling frameworks, compensation bands, feedback cycles, and an employee handbook. Partner with founders on org design, headcount planning, and recruiting strategy; track people data to influence decisions on attrition, engagement, and compensation. Provide direct feedback to managers, coach the leadership layer, and handle complex employee relations with discretion. Support visa sponsorship and immigration processes, champion culture, DEI, psychological safety, and ensure compliance with California employment law. Collaborate across the People team and provide strategic input to scale the organization while maintaining high performance and sound judgment. Required Qualifications
- 6–10 years of HR generalist or HRBP experience
- Experience supporting technical teams at a high-growth startup
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making
- Outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills across levels from ICs to founders
- Deep California employment law fluency (CFRA, FEHA, FMLA) and US employment practices
- Experience with global or multi-state workforces and familiarity with immigration/visa processes
- Ability to coach managers and lead organizational design initiatives
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and building HR infrastructure from scratch
- Experience partnering with recruiting on hiring strategy, role scoping, and interview structure
- Experience standing up HRIS, performance tooling, and employee handbook development
- Demonstrated ability to manage employee relations with discretion and judgment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
