Job Summary
Conduct high-level support for human resources risk management and compliance by researching workplace issues, leading investigations, and mediating employee relations disputes. Audit payroll, timesheets, and performance documentation to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws while maintaining scrupulous confidentiality. Coordinate involuntary termination meetings, facilitate new hire orientations, and perform site visits to observe staff interactions and recommend cultural improvements. Participate on the Safety Committee to drive continuous quality improvement and assist with internal and external audits. Requires travel to various locations in Alameda County; $48/hourly compensation with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS or higher in Human Resources Management, business, communications, marketing or social services discipline
- Minimum of four years of general human resources experience
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and payroll laws and best practices in HR
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications of Word, Excel and Outlook
- The ability to maintain confidentiality of employee-related information
- The ability to work with all agency staff and departments to facilitate smooth communication and efficient workflow
- Aptitude for detail-oriented work; ability to work through complex issues with a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and work independently
- Must be able to travel to various locations in Alameda County
Desired Qualifications
- SPHR/PHR certification
- Experience with employee relations investigations and management coaching with regard to employee relations issues
- Social services agency experience
