Job Summary
Supervise two Housing Specialists by providing direction, mentorship, and technical assistance to ensure program goals are met. Manage a caseload of at least 20 clients by conducting assessments, developing individualized housing plans, and coordinating searches for permanent housing through rental assistance and public resources. Review applications and case records for compliance, lead team meetings and strategy initiatives, and guide clients through subsidy applications including CityFHEPS and SOTA. Prepare reports on housing outcomes and maintain accurate client records within agency databases. This role reports to the Director of Housing Placements at 510 Gates Avenue in Brooklyn, where the Senior Housing Specialist will help break cycles of homelessness within The Doe Fund's flagship Ready, Willing & Able program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in housing placement, case management, or human services, preferably working with homeless or vulnerable populations
- Knowledge of NYC housing programs and subsidies, including CityFHEPS, HPD Section 8, HRA housing applications, SOTA, EOSD, and supportive housing
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and time management skills with strong attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic case management systems
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external partners
