Job Summary
Senior Heritage Consultant to lead archaeology fieldwork projects in the southern half of the country, principally in the UK. Based in London (with emphasis on delivering projects across the UK and Ireland) and responsible for planning consent planning and developing bespoke archaeological strategies, RAMS, desk-based assessments, and stakeholder/client liaison. The role requires high-level technical archaeology knowledge, commercial acumen, leadership of fieldwork projects, and the ability to generate new business opportunities while ensuring health and safety compliance. Strong writing, communication, and client-relations skills are essential, with responsibilities including monitoring subcontractors, preparing competitive tenders, and contributing to heritage-related planning and masterplanning activities.
Required Qualifications
- Experience of archaeological fieldwork project management (project, financial and staff management)
- Robust knowledge of Ireland archaeology and history and full knowledge of the planning process and relevant environmental/heritage legislation and guidance
- Experience in heritage-related areas such as heritage and planning, masterplanning, heritage conservation, heritage-led regeneration, placemaking, multi-disciplinary collaboration and business development
- Excellent writing skills and strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage budgets within a busy consultancy environment
