Job Summary
Senior Healthy Waters Specialist (Special Projects) leads delivery of complex stormwater and wastewater infrastructure projects and provides technical guidance within Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters Network Solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading project delivery, managing procurement, contracts, budgets, and risk to achieve quality, cost-effective outcomes; collaborating with internal and external partners such as Auckland Transport, Watercare, developers and other infrastructure providers; championing innovation, health and safety, and customer-focused service across projects and programmes; and mentoring junior staff while contributing to planning, growth and future urban development work. The role requires strong technical capability, commercial acumen, and the ability to build credibility with a wide range of stakeholders, while prioritising health and safety and contributing to a high-performing team culture.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent experience
- At least 7 years’ experience in the three waters infrastructure sector or a similar environment
- Strong project management experience across significant, high-risk or high-value projects
- Demonstrated expertise in stormwater management techniques, including engineered solutions, hydrology and environmental performance
- Well-developed stakeholder management, consultation and communication skills
- Experience in contract management, business case development and working within a local government or similarly complex environment
