Job Summary
Senior Hardware Test Engineer - Actuation responsible for owning the validation infrastructure for robotic actuators powering Apptronik’s humanoid robots. Define test strategies for servo-driven electromechanical systems (calibration and alignment, functional validation, performance characterization, fault detection), specify instrumentation and interfaces (servo drives, motor controllers, EtherCAT networks, sensors, data acquisition), lead integration and validation of automated test stations, collaborate with controls/hardware/firmware teams to ensure testability in actuator architectures, and support transition to high-volume manufacturing with improvements in yield, cycle time, and reliability. Includes creation of production-ready documentation, training materials, and calibration procedures; direct-hire role based in Austin, TX.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant experience
- 7+ years of experience in hardware test, manufacturing test, or system validation of electromechanical systems
- Hands-on experience testing servo-driven actuators or motion systems
- Strong understanding of servo control systems
- Strong understanding of motor drives
- Experience with EtherCAT-based motion networks
- Experience deploying automated test systems for hardware products
- Proven ability to lead complex technical projects from concept through production deployment
- Cross-functional collaboration with hardware, controls, and manufacturing teams
