Job Summary
Define the roadmap for scaled hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and transition infrastructure to a modular, scalable approach. Design, develop, and maintain HIL platforms for embedded and perception systems integration, building modular test fixtures for large-scale automated regression pipelines. Serve as the technical bridge between Embedded Software, Perception, Systems Engineering, and GNC teams to build corresponding testing capabilities. Mentor junior engineers in embedded systems development and direct lab technicians on physical execution and server setup. Lead the growth of the HIL team by establishing hiring standards, technical vision, and best practices. This foundational role drives the evolution of Wing's next-generation software-on-hardware testing infrastructure to support the rapid growth of our autonomous drone fleet.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience working with autonomous systems
- 4+ years focused on building and scaling HIL test environments
- Proven experience designing hardware test systems, including continuous perception testing
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects of significant scope and complexity, driving initiatives from concept to successful implementation
- Proficient programming with C/C++ and Python
- Linux on advanced user level
- Hands-on experience with embedded operating systems and their integration within HIL setups
- In-depth knowledge of hardware communication protocols and experience interfacing with sensors, actuators, and other hardware components
- Familiarity in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with software quality assurance, in particular verification and validation testing
- Hybrid based in Palo Alto, CA
