Job Summary
Senior Hardware Design Engineer at Arista Networks responsible for end-to-end hardware design of high-speed Ethernet switches for enterprise campuses, hyperscale datacenters, and AI clusters. Core duties include authoring functional specifications for high-density Ethernet switch hardware, selecting and qualifying components, schematic capture (flat and hierarchical), PCB layout collaboration with eCAD teams, conducting signal integrity simulations for power and datapath signals, defining PCB stackups and fabrication details, coordinating with contract manufacturers from proto to production, lab bring-up and debug of prototypes, driving complex hardware/software/test integration, training CM teams for high-yield testing, and mentoring junior engineers. Requires leadership in hardware design, extensive experience in 100G/200G PAM4 Ethernet switching, and familiarity with high-speed interfaces and advanced PCB manufacturing technologies. BE or ME EE or EC with 10+ years of relevant experience; experience with mass production DFMs and working with contract manufacturers is expected.
Required Qualifications
- BE or ME EE or EC
- 10+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience
- Experience designing Networking Hardware, particularly involving 100G and 200G PAM4 Ethernet switching
- Experience with high-speed interfaces (e.g., DDR, PCIe)
- Experience with multi-layer/high-layer PCB design (20+ layers, 50G+ signals)
- Experience collaborating with CAD designers and contract manufacturers
- Lab bring-up and debugging of prototypes
- Ability to guide and mentor other engineers
