Job Summary
Lead safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes designed for active older adults at the San Jose Hilton on September 29th. Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, and exercise modifications to accommodate a variety of fitness levels while incorporating strength, balance, mobility, flexibility, and cardiovascular training. Monitor participants throughout the 50-minute sessions to ensure proper technique and safety, fostering a supportive atmosphere that encourages community among attendees. This one-time role involves teaching four specific classes including Chair Yoga, Strength Training with Bands, Balance Training, and Flexibility/Mobility Training to support the active aging population at the Retired Public Employees Association convention.
Required Qualifications
- Current nationally recognized Group Fitness Certification (ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM, or equivalent)
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required
- Previous experience teaching group fitness classes, especially with older adults
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong member-service mindset
- Knowledge of functional fitness, balance training, and fall prevention
- Ability to provide modifications for common conditions such as arthritis, joint limitations, and osteoporosis
- Ability to motivate and connect with members in a positive and encouraging way
- Strong focus on member experience and community building
- Work Location: In person class to be taught at the San Jose California Hilton Hotel
- These classes will be taught only 1 time
Desired Qualifications
- Certification or specialization in Senior Fitness, Active Aging, SilverSneakers, or Functional Aging preferred
