Job Summary

Provide expert advice on agency governance, legislative compliance, and accountability for Alberta's public agencies. Monitor governance practices to identify risks and opportunities, then lead recruitment and appointment processes for board members while ensuring adherence to legislative requirements. Prepare briefing materials, Cabinet packages, and Ministerial Orders, and support strategic planning through research and jurisdictional scanning. Respond to action requests and provide operational support to advance branch priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • University graduation in Public Administration, Political Science, Social Science, or Business Administration (or a related field)
  • 4 years progressively responsible related experience
  • Directly related education or experience (1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education)
  • Full-time attendance in downtown Edmonton
  • Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week
  • Ability to undergo a security screening

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with related governance legislation such as the Government Organization Act, Alberta Public Agencies Governance Act, Conflicts of Interest Act, ATIA, and Interpretation Act
  • Knowledge of public agency compensation guidelines and practices in Alberta
  • Familiarity with ARTS processes
  • Experience working with analyzing data and preparing reports to provide technical advice in regards to legislation and developing policy in a Governmental capacity
