Job Summary
Lead sourcing and lifecycle management for braking and suspension commodities, driving competitive bid processes and negotiating commercial terms with Tier 1 suppliers. Execute multi-generational vehicle strategies by placing RFIs, RFPs, and purchase orders while identifying system efficiencies to improve procurement speed. Monitor economic and technology landscapes to mitigate risks and close cost gaps using should-cost models. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to provide detailed forecasting and manage expectations for long-term plans. Work autonomously on small-scale projects with moderate leadership oversight. Based onsite in Irvine, CA or Plymouth, MI with 30% domestic and international travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Specific negotiation and technical experience for the assigned commodity
- Understanding of cost estimation models to identify risk
- Good understanding of Manufacturing processes
- Understanding of value stream mapping
- Understanding of costs associated with Brakes and suspension related components
- Ability to negotiate costs based on should cost models
- Proficiency in SAP
- Proficiency in Basecamp
- Ability to defuse conflicts
- Ability to provide feedback to peers
- Ability to work on problems of diverse scope
- Ability to evaluate identifiable factors to find solutions
- Ability to exercise good judgment
- Comfortable receiving general instructions on new assignments
- Ability to manage day-to-day work with independence
- 30% Domestic and International travel
