Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Ports & Marine, Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers

Job Summary
Evaluate site conditions, perform engineering analyses, designs, and prepare estimates for Kiewit's design-build pursuits in the Ports and Marine markets. Work with interdisciplinary teams and subcontractors to develop competitive designs, identify bid phase risks, and advance concepts to IFC. Oversee engineering services during construction and field review efforts while supporting efforts to capture and spread design lessons learned. Mentor early and mid-career geotechnical engineers and direct the work of others within a multi-disciplinary environment. This role is based in Bellevue, WA or Burnaby, BC, with travel to project sites and work locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geological Engineering
- Registration as a Professional Engineer or eligible for registration in home office State / Province
- 15+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience
- 10+ years providing geotechnical solutions in ports and marine-related infrastructure projects
- Strong all-around academic knowledge of geotechnical engineering
- Experience with design of docking structures such as combi-walls, sheet pile walls, tangent walls, cellular structures
- Experience with evaluating underwater slope stability and related impacts to pile supported structures
- Driven, drilled and rock socketed pile design experience
- Experience in seismic ground response analysis
- Professional experience and capability with finite element software (PLAXIS 2-D, 3-D or FLAC)
- Comprehension of pertinent standards and codes
- Experience working in a team setting and directing the work of others
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- The physical ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environmental conditions
- Ability to travel to project sites
- Regular, reliable attendance
- Work productively and meet deadlines timely
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
- Perform work safely and effectively
- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines
- Work overtime and weekends as required

Desired Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering
- Qualified Geologist and/or Geomorphologist
- EPC and/or Design-Build experience
- Experience working with AI agents and tools
