Job Summary
Senior Geotechnical Engineer will lead multidisciplinary project teams in the design of tailings storage facilities, including advanced analyses (dynamic, FLAC, liquefaction). The role involves collaborating on tailings containment design optimization, preparing and reviewing technical studies and geotechnical investigations, and conducting peer and dam safety reviews. You will inspect tailings and mine waste facilities, participate in project meetings, mentor junior and intermediate engineers, and contribute to technical proposals and business development. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in civil or geological engineering, P.Eng. licensure in Ontario and/or other provinces, and 15+ years of relevant experience in mining/metals with strong tailings dam design/analysis expertise and leadership, along with excellent communication and collaboration skills. The role is based in Canada with locations in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, and Edmonton, and offers a hybrid work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or Geological Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and/or other Canadian provinces
- 15+ years of relevant experience leading multidisciplinary teams of large- and small-scale projects within Mining and Metals
- Strong technical expertise in tailings dam design and analysis, including: Stress-strain modeling (e.g., FLAC or equivalent), Dynamic and seismic analysis, Liquefaction assessment, Slope stability and seepage analysis
- Ability to mentor and collaborate with geotechnical, hydrology, hydrogeology, and environmental specialists
- Experience preparing technical proposals and contributing to business development initiatives
