Job Summary
Senior Geologist responsible for guiding multi-site/phase environmental work, including due diligence, subsurface investigations, and remediation projects. Manages data collection methods for soil, groundwater, soil gas, and related matrices; conducts Phase I/II environmental site assessments; coordinates site investigations, drilling oversight, and monitoring; prepares technical reports, visualizations, and HASPs; ensures QA/QC, regulatory compliance, and professional communication with regulators, subcontractors, and clients. Leads data interpretation, hazard assessment, and development of action plans for risk mitigation, with emphasis on safety, data integrity, and cost-effective environmental solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline
- 5 to 7 years of experience working as a Geologist
- Analytical skills and proficiency with geological research techniques and protocol
- Working knowledge of mitigating hazardous substances, processes, or products and mitigation programs
- Working knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
- Experience sampling soil and groundwater via drilling methods (direct-push, hollow-stem auger, etc.)
- Experience conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments per ASTM guidelines
- Experience with UST investigations and remediation including hydrocarbon-impacted sites
- Experience evaluating vapor intrusion and soil gas sampling per DTSC and EPA guidelines
- Experience installing groundwater monitoring wells, remediation wells, and soil gas wells
- Experience writing groundwater monitoring reports and well installation reports
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for scientific and non-scientific audiences
- Self-leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, prioritization in dynamic environments
- Ability to work independently and lead junior team members with QA/QC adherence
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and communication tools
- Critical thinking and problem-solving to derive cost-effective remediation strategies
- Ability to direct subcontractors in field operations to ensure safety and efficiency
- Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, and harassment policies
- Willingness to work schedules beyond typical workweek
- Travel up to ~30%
