Job Summary
Senior Geologist for a large-scale gold and silver mining operation. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and overseeing RC, sonic, and core drilling programs; monitoring drilling activities for safety and efficiency; preparing monthly cost reports, variance analyses, and cash flow forecasts; conducting drill rig inspections to ensure safety and environmental compliance; logging core and RC samples and collecting geological and geotechnical data; reviewing assay results, QA/QC performance, and laboratory data; updating geological models with lithologic, geochemical, hyperspectral, and structural datasets; performing geological mapping and data analysis to support resource modeling and geotechnical evaluations; conducting soil, rock, and field sampling programs; collecting field data using handheld XRF and magnetic susceptibility instruments; coordinating with drilling and field operations teams on logistics and drill pad locations; collaborating with mine operations, engineering, survey, and technical teams to achieve project objectives; maintaining accurate documentation and reporting; performing additional duties as assigned; equal opportunity employer with safety and environmental stewardship emphasis.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geosciences or a related field; field camp experience required
- 10+ years of exploration and/or production geology experience in open pit and/or underground mining environments preferred
- Proficiency with Leapfrog and Vulcan geological modeling software
- Working knowledge of acQuire, MX Deposit, or similar geological database systems
- Strong QA/QC procedures and data validation experience
- Experience conducting surface and/or underground geological mapping
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions
