Job Summary
Senior Geologist to lead water-resource and environmental restoration projects in Florida. Manage hazardous waste site investigations, groundwater and soil assessments, and design/remediation strategies to achieve regulatory closure or permit compliance. Serve as technical liaison with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) under the BPSS Preapproval Program and Petroleum Restoration Program. Conduct hazardous waste management and environmental site due diligence, develop detailed technical reports, remediation plans, and regulatory documentation. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and mentor junior staff. Proficiency with GIS for mapping, AutoCAD for site design, and groundwater modeling tools (MODFLOW, Groundwater Vistas). Certifications: PG license (required), OSHA HAZWOPER, CHMM, Florida DEP Water/Wastewater Operator Certification, ESA Certification.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related field
- Extensive experience in hazardous waste site investigations and groundwater remediation projects
- Expertise in designing and implementing remediation technologies to address complex environmental challenges
- Strong knowledge of Florida’s ecosystems and water resource management practices
- Proven ability to work effectively with regulatory agencies, including FDEP
- Exceptional project management and communication skills
- Professional Geologist (PG) License (required)
- OSHA HAZWOPER Certification for hazardous materials handling
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
- Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification (Florida DEP)
- Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) Certification
- Ability to lead projects and mentor junior staff
