Job Summary
Senior Generator Technician with 5+ years of experience serving as the primary technical expert for complex generator and engine system issues. Responsibilities include commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining diesel, natural gas, and propane generators across multiple manufacturers and sizes; programming and troubleshooting generator control platforms (e.g., Deep Sea, ComAp, Basler, Woodward, Kohler PowerCommand); inspecting and testing Automatic Transfer Switches across various voltage classes; executing comprehensive preventive maintenance programs; developing and improving PM checklists and service intervals; coordinating with electricians and contractors on larger installations; conducting site walk-throughs for upgrades or new installations; providing remote or on-site guidance to junior technicians, and mentoring junior and mid-level technicians. The role requires strong electrical troubleshooting skills, experience with generator controls, and the ability to interpret schematics and load data.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with prime power or standby power generation equipment
- Hands-on experience with multiple generator control systems
- Deep working knowledge of diesel, natural gas, and propane engines
- Intermediate to advanced electrical troubleshooting; ability to read single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and interpret load data
- Strong understanding of Automatic Transfer Switch operation, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting
