Job Summary
Senior Gameplay Designer for a LEGO collaboration: design and ship compelling gameplay experiences across combat, progression, systems, and live gameplay content. Own and iterate on gameplay systems and content, balancing player readability, accessibility, engagement, and long-term retention. Collaborate across design leadership, art, programming, animation, UX, audio, production, and QA to deliver features from concept through ship; document clear design specs; prototype and implement scripting and content in the engine; solicit and rapidly integrate team feedback; establish design pipelines and cross-discipline standards to scope and hit milestone goals. Strong background in itemization, gameplay feel, and live-service multiplayer; experience with Unreal Engine and the Ability System is highly valued; capable of translating creative direction into production-ready tasks and thriving in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience shipping first or third-person shooter titles as a Gameplay Designer, working on itemization, gameplay systems, combat, ability systems, features, and content
- Strong scripting and technical capabilities; bonus points for Unreal Engine and Ability System experience
- Experience working on live-service multiplayer environments
- Demonstrated talent and understanding of gameplay feel, player motivations, gameplay mechanics, weapon/itemization, and combat systems contributing to engaging experiences
- Ability to break down high-level creative direction into actionable gameplay features and production-ready tasks
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing project needs
- Commitment to quality, rapid iteration, and delivering exceptional player experiences
