Job Summary
Lead full stack architecture and system design for critical consumer-facing features, owning the backend roadmap and driving technical decisions across frontend and backend execution. Optimize existing systems for performance, reliability, and cost while serving as the team's technical anchor to set standards and lead design reviews. Coordinate cross-functional delivery with product and design teams, leveraging AI coding tools to accelerate development velocity and minimize risk. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring stable, well-tested features are shipped on time with high autonomy.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- deep expertise in backend / distributed systems
- practical experience building or improving high-traffic, user-facing web applications
- Proven track record of leading a team to execute and ship features
- Strong proficiency in Go, Python, Ruby, or similar backend languages/frameworks
- Strong frontend experience with React, TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, or similar modern web technologies
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and scaling distributed systems that handle real-world traffic at scale
- Proficient with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Codex, Copilot, etc.)
- A T-shaped engineer / generalist mindset with deep expertise in at least one domain (e.g., API design, data pipelines, event-driven architectures, infrastructure)
- A proactive ownership mentality, you don't wait for permission to improve things; you identify problems, propose solutions, and execute
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, handling conflict constructively, and building consensus across teams with competing priorities
- Experience with high-traffic consumer applications
- Familiarity with the technologies, tradeoffs, and design patterns emerging in modern web services and cloud-native architectures
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
