Job Summary
Design and build front-end architecture for large-scale, microservice-based web applications using ReactJS and TypeScript. Develop cross-browser dynamic interfaces with rich interactions while contributing to backend services, REST APIs, and Java-based systems. Optimize UI performance and security through profiling and hardening for demanding enterprise workloads. Elevate team standards through code reviews, design discussions, and pairing. Collaborate with product managers to translate requirements into robust features and research new technologies for adoption. This role is based at the Qualys Pune development center within the TotalCloud team, supporting a platform processing over 100 million transactions daily.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a strong front-end focus
- Proven experience building large-scale, distributed, and highly scalable web applications
- Demonstrated ability to make and drive front-end architecture decisions and see them through to production
- A track record of technical leadership as an individual contributor - influencing design decisions, mentoring peers, and setting a high engineering bar without formal authority
- Substantial experience building large, complex, and performant web applications with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS across multiple browsers
- JavaScript expert - firm grasp of both functional and object-oriented JavaScript, proficient in native JavaScript and one or more frameworks such as ReactJS (preferred), Angular, or Ext JS
- TypeScript experience is a strong plus
- Solid command of CSS fundamentals and modern layout/styling techniques
- Deep understanding of front-end architecture patterns, state management, and componentization
- Deep knowledge of modern front-end build systems such as Vite and Webpack - configuring and optimizing bundling, code splitting, tree shaking, module resolution, and build performance, and understanding the trade-offs between tooling choices
- Strong grasp of the network layer - HTTP/HTTPS, cookies, local storage - and front-end security best practices, including XSS, CSRF, and related mitigations
- Deep familiarity with Chrome DevTools, including using the performance timeline for profiling
- Proficient with debugging and testing tools to troubleshoot and optimize the UI
- Strong track record of UI optimization and performance tuning
- Working proficiency in at least one modern backend language - Java, Go, Python, Node.js, C#, or similar
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs (GraphQL a plus)
- Comfort working with SQL and relational databases; exposure to NoSQL or distributed data stores is a plus
- Understanding of microservice architectures and how front-end applications integrate with distributed backend systems
- Familiarity with our stack - Core Java, Spring Boot, Maven - is an advantage, or a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly into a Java-based backend
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and application design
- Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks and a commitment to well-tested code
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Kafka, Cassandra, Oracle, Elastic Search, or Redis
- Familiarity with Jenkins, Docker, containers, and microservice deployment
- Experience working on SaaS or cloud-native platforms, ideally in a security domain
