Job Summary

Provide technical leadership to coordinate cross-functional teams for showing compliance of commercial seats against federal and industry standards. Conduct testing, analysis, and design reviews to verify adherence to structural and occupant injury requirements including 14 CFR 25.853 and 25.869. Generate compliance plans and documents to support TSO, PMA, and STC approvals as an ODA unit member. Review proposed projects for feasibility, cost, and lead-time while participating in training to grow talent and process development. This role supports the modification and upgrade team at Collins Aerospace, helping extend the life of aircraft interior products and improve passenger satisfaction through certified seat modifications.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree focused in mechanical, aeronautical, civil, chemical, textile or other relevant engineering
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum 5 years prior relevant experience
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in certification/testing and aircraft cabin interiors, preferably commercial seating
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Onsite work location

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of FAA, EASA rules and regulations, policy memos, guidance materials, standards, etc. related to aircraft seat certification with emphasis on aircraft interiors requirements
  • Experience of TSO/PMA/STC/TC qualification and certification processes
  • Prior working experience in the aerospace industry, specifically with aircraft interiors
  • Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings and reports
  • Familiarity with testing and substantiation for Bunsen burner tests, oil burner tests, and OSU heat release / smoke density per 14 CFR 25 App F
  • Working knowledge of certification under 14 CFR Part 21 and Part 25
  • Clear communication and technical leadership skills
