Job Summary
Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes while demonstrating exercises and maintaining a welcoming environment for all fitness levels. Answer member questions to support healthy living goals, build authentic relationships, and encourage class participation. Maintain accurate attendance records, attend required training and staff meetings, and participate in master classes, fundraising, and special events. Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures, including responding to emergency situations. Possess appropriate class certifications and CPR/FA/AED/02 (ASHI) certification within 30 days of hire. This role supports the YMCA mission by helping members connect with each other and the organization through exercise.
Required Qualifications
- Appropriate certifications for classes taught
- CPR/FA/AED/02 (ASHI) required within 30 days of hire
- Must be able to demonstrate class exercises
- Must be able to stand or walk the majority of the class
- Must be able to push, pull, balance, bend, twist, squat, kneel and reach
- Must be able to frequently lift and or move objects up to 20 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally lift and or move objects up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to see, hear and talk
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations
Desired Qualifications
- Instructor experience preferred
- Strong communication and social media skills
- Knowledge and understanding of YMCA mission and philosophy preferred
