Job Summary
Senior Firmware Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and validating embedded firmware for implantable medical devices and accessories used in spinal cord injury repair. Lead firmware architecture decisions, guide cross-functional teams, ensure regulatory compliance (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971), perform verification/validation, and mentor junior engineers. Require strong proficiency in C for embedded systems, knowledge of Assembly/C++, C#, Rust, experience with ARM microcontrollers and wireless tech, and hands-on use of test equipment. Must operate within a regulated environment, influence technical direction, participate in design reviews, and contribute to production transfer and documentation to ensure patient safety and device reliability.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 4 years of experience in software design for embedded systems
- Proficiency in C for embedded systems
- Knowledge of Assembly, C++, C#, Rust
- Hands on experience with ARM microcontrollers and wireless communication technology
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, bus analyzers and logic analyzers
- Knowledge of software lifecycle standards and regulatory requirements (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA QSR)
- Experience with implantable medical device development and familiarity with FDA submissions
