Senior Fire Protection Engineer

Job Summary
Collaborate with engineering and design teams to deliver cost-efficient fire protection solutions and develop client reports on system compliance and operational functionality. Provide code and standard references, conduct document research, and interpret fire protection requirements while meeting with jurisdictional authorities to resolve compliance questions. Maintain a current working knowledge of changing codes, standards, and industry specifications. This role requires passing the EIT Examination, 50% travel to US/Canada sites within one hour of a major airport, and the ability to work independently from home. NV5 helps clients plan, design, build, and operate projects that improve communities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or a combination of equivalent experience and nationally recognized certification(s)
- Have passed the EIT Examination, and able to sit for Professional Engineering examination within 4- years
- Ability to travel 50% - Mainly US/Canada - Varies monthly - Travel typically M-F for week-long trips but average is 2-3 day trips to site locations
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Due to project locations and travel requirements, candidates need to be within 1 hour of a major US airport
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Fire, Life Safety and Building Codes and NFPA Standards
- Field engineering/consulting experience in fire protection
- Experience with or knowledge of passive fire protection
- Ability to manage time and meet deadlines and budgets
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Working competency with MS Office & MS Project software
