Job Summary
Guide self-pay patients through their financial journey from admission to 30 days post-discharge by screening for Medicaid, completing assistance applications, and triaging financial questions. Perform onsite patient rounding, provide education, and facilitate process improvements while collaborating with case management and social workers. Verify coverage for in-house patients, including Labor & Delivery and NICU locations, and ensure timely resolution of all financial inquiries. Work onsite at Mercy - Urbana Hospital in Urbana, OH, with a salary range of $20.45 - $22.50/hr. Required Qualifications
- 3 to 5 Years
- Bachelor's degree or Equivalent Experience
- Subject matter knowledge in Public Benefits Eligibility - Medicaid Screening and/or Financial Assistance
- Accountability for Medicaid Screening and Conversion for self-pay patients
- Financial Counseling – Workqueues/Worklists, POS Collections, Denial Review
- Ability to triage patient financial questions and ensure resolution while in-house
- Face-to-face connection with patients throughout their care journey
- Real time feedback and issue resolution
- Ability to escalate any financial process gaps identified
- Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving and knowledge of all the Revenue Cycle areas and processes
- Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation including AI
- Must be able to work on-site at Mercy - Urbana Hospital in Urbana, OH
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in multiple areas of the revenue cycle is preferred, including but not limited to a financial counselor role, customer service role, public benefits/Medicaid advocate/eligibility, state case/eligibility specialist or other applicable roles
- Prior Patient Access or Physician based experience
