Job Summary
Develop and maintain fiscal management systems for Native American Tribal clients, including fund authorization policies, accounting assistance, and financial statement preparation for single government audits. Execute consulting assignments with limited supervision, focusing on audit support packages, indirect cost rate negotiations, and contract support claims. Provide training and coaching to tribal finance staff while managing client work product files in accordance with company processes. Travel frequently to meet clients on-site in Portland, OR, or Albuquerque, NM. Requires a Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, CPA designation preferred, and 5+ years of experience with single audits and governmental accounting.
Required Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience working single audits with the ability to develop and produce financial statements using a trial balance
- Experience working with tribal governments
- Strong background and understanding of governmental accounting and the development and preparation of governmental/tribal financial statements
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities with ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions
- High learning agility, with a blend of technical accounting knowledge, business acumen, strong oral and written communication, and excellent presentation skills
- Excellent Consulting skills: ability to advise clients on timely financial matters and ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients
- Prior experience and skilled in the use of accounting software, and a full understanding of accounting principles, cycles and financial statements
- Proactive work ethic and ability to work well in a team environment
- Must be able to pass an in-depth background check
- Must be available for frequent travel
- Must be located in Portland, Oregon, or Albuquerque, New Mexico
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or higher in finance, accounting or economics
- Certified Public Accountant or other professional accounting designation
