Job Summary
Process payroll transactions for hourly and salaried employees in accordance with established procedures and payroll schedules. Investigate and resolve standard payroll and time-related issues, escalating complex matters as appropriate. Assist with the administration of payroll and time & attendance systems, including testing and validation activities when required. Accurately enter, maintain, and validate employee and payroll data within payroll and HR systems. Prepare and post payroll journals to the general ledger, reconcile payroll-related accounts, and process payroll accruals and cross-charges to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with month-end close requirements. Support payroll audits, compliance activities, and month-end reporting requirements as needed.
Required Qualifications
- IPASS qualification or National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline
- 2+ years of related work experience in a payroll role
- solid knowledge of business concepts, procedures and practices
- complete understanding fundamentals in a functional area
- working knowledge of other related disciplines
- ability to perform complex assignments usually without established procedures
- considerable judgment, initiative, creativity and leadership in troubleshooting, suggesting alternatives, and making recommendations for continuous quality improvement
- ability to plan and organise non-routine tasks with approval
- ability to initiate or maintain work schedule
- ability to establish priorities of work assignments
- ability to solve a wide range of complex problems requiring advanced interpretation of generally defined procedures and practices
- ability to select methods and practices to obtain imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions to questions
- general knowledge of products/services associated with area
- general knowledge of employees involved with specific product lines and services
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
