Job Summary
Conduct daily financial aid processes including counseling students and parents on federal, state, and institutional programs while analyzing and processing student records for verification, certification, and award reconciliation. Manage complex data records, execute R2T4 calculations, and resolve discrepancies in financial aid files through manual reconciliation and system analysis. Exercise professional judgment to adjust income, dependency status, and loan eligibility based on enrollment and calculated financial need. Full-time, 40 hours per week. Salary $42,320 - $49,726. Requires Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience in higher education financial aid. Located at South Campus, Broward College.
Required Qualifications

- Four years of relevant experience
- Experience within field or closely related field
- Progressively knowledgeable and responsible experience in a collegiate setting
- Current knowledge of the practices, policies, and procedures governing the higher education student financial aid process
- Ability to conduct reconciliation by analyzing complex data independently or collaboratively
- Proficient in interpretation of federal and state regulations as it pertains to financial aid
- Ability to oversee part-time or work-study employees or provide functional guidance to less experienced staff
- Mathematical skills to manually calculate awards, apply formulas to awards, calculate the student's need, and determine estimated financial aid
- General understanding of the College's structure, policies, procedures, and practices
- Ability to contribute in multiple related areas within the function
- Understanding of and ability to coordinate interdependencies of work within the area and of resources from outside the area
- Ability to exchange information with individuals and collaborate with colleagues within the College
- Presentation skills
- Advanced knowledge of computerized systems and operating environments
- Ability to effectively communicate and present financial aid workshop material within and outside the college community
- Ability to conduct R2T4 calculations when students withdraw and have received federal aid
- Ability to verify data and certify grants, loans, and scholarship awards for students through income and budget analysis
- Ability to review and process financial aid applications to determine basic eligibility and obtain additional documentation when necessary
- Ability to exercise professional judgment to determine if income adjustments should be made, dependency status should be revised, and reviews recalculations to adjust awards on less complex cases
- Ability to review and determine individual loan eligibility based on enrollment, program objective, and calculated financial need
- Ability to analyze, create, and maintain complex and technical data records which include electronic data transmission of information to outside agencies and accessing data included in federal systems
- Ability to assist in the construction and reconciliation of financial aid files for state and federal reporting
- Ability to resolve discrepancies and manually reconcile files from various reports when system limitations prevent automation
- Ability to respond to inquiries by researching and resolving problematic transactions
- Ability to serve as a liaison with other departments in the resolution of day-to-day administrative or operational issues
- Ability to perform crisis intervention referrals as needed
- Ability to understand and implement state grant programs
- Ability to claim Veterans' Preference pursuant to Florida Statute 295 (for eligible veterans and their spouses)
- Ability to provide required documentation at the time of submitting application (for applicants claiming preference)
- Ability to obtain an equivalency statement from a certified transcript evaluation service verifying the degree equivalency to that of an accredited institution within the USA (for foreign transcripts)
