Job Summary
Own Canva’s global tax technology ecosystem and lead architecture and implementation across platforms including Avalara, Vertex, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, and Fonoa. Design and maintain reliable, scalable integrations between tax platforms and the broader finance ecosystem (e.g., NetSuite, Zuora, Snowflake). Drive automation and AI-enabled workflows to improve compliance and operational efficiency. Design and maintain SOX/ITGC controls, support audit readiness, and ensure governance across tax systems and integrations. Partner with Tax, Accounting, Engineering, Technical Program Managers, and external vendors to shape Canva’s long-term tax systems roadmap. Lead sandbox strategy, release orchestration, regression testing, and platform change management across quarterly release cycles. Build scalable documentation, runbooks, and operational processes to empower Canva’s Finance teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience owning and operating enterprise tax systems such as Avalara, Vertex, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, or Fonoa within a global SaaS or high-growth technology environment
- Strong API integration experience across REST/SOAP services
- Hands-on experience with iPaaS tooling (e.g., Workato)
- Solid SQL capability; Python experience for ETL/automation is highly regarded
- Experience delivering automation or AI-driven initiatives within finance, compliance, or tax systems
- Strong understanding of global indirect tax obligations (VAT/GST, US sales tax, digital services taxes, marketplace facilitator rules, e-invoicing ecosystems)
- Experience with SOX/ITGC controls, audit support, and change governance
