Senior Field Service Technician

Job Summary

Lead on-site installation, startup, commissioning, and validation of LiquidStack liquid cooling systems while serving as the primary technical escalation point in the field. Independently execute complex troubleshooting across mechanical, hydronic, electrical, and thermal subsystems; operate diagnostic instrumentation to perform pressure testing, flow balancing, and leak checks during critical events. Act as the senior technical representative at customer sites, communicating with IT, facilities, and management stakeholders to support acceptance testing and system handovers. Mentor junior technicians and deliver operational training to customer teams while completing detailed service reports and root-cause analyses. Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and respond to emergencies, requiring 75% travel with a preference for Denver, CO.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of field service experience supporting HVAC, HVAC R, chillers, industrial cooling, power, or mission critical infrastructure
  • Proven experience leading equipment startups, commissioning, and troubleshooting in customer environment
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license and passport
  • Willingness to travel approximately 75% (primarily domestic with occasional international travel)
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification (Types I, II, and III)
  • OSHA 10 (General Industry)
  • Lockout/tagout (LOTO) competency
  • Ability to read and work from electrical schematics, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and sequence-of-operations documents without supervision
  • Working knowledge of hydronic loops, pumps, heat exchangers, CDUs (coolant distribution units), manifolds, and pressure/flow control
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure: UPS, PDU, generators, ATS, BMS/DCIM, CRAC/CRAH, fire suppression, and raised floor or slab environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Willingness to participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and respond to critical infrastructure emergencies
  • Ability to push or carry up to 75lbs. with assistance
  • Routine bending, squatting, kneeling, and overhead reaching
  • Climbing ladders and elevated platforms
  • Reliable transportation
  • On-call rotation
  • Adherence to customer site safety, and PPE protocols at all times
  • Located near major customer hubs, with a preference for candidates based in Denver, CO (supporting Mountain/West Coast coverage)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting data centers, hyperscale facilities, or other high‐availability environments
  • Hands-on experience with high-density liquid cooling (direct-to-chip, immersion, rear-door heat exchangers, manifold-based distribution)
  • Prior experience with hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center operators (e.g., Equinix, Digital Realty, Flexential, CoreSite, Compass, QTS)
  • NOC/SOC/IOC or DCT II/III experience
  • OSHA 30 and NFPA 70E (arc flash)
  • Denver, CO location
