Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, safety planning, and case management for children, young people, and families from migrant and refugee backgrounds affected by family violence. Deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed interventions that strengthen protective factors and support recovery, resilience, and social connection. Facilitate individual and group-based services while advocating for access to education, housing, health, and legal resources. Collaborate with parents, carers, schools, and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated responses, maintain high-quality case records, and contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives. Apply the MARAM Framework and Victorian Child Safe Standards to promote child safety and wellbeing in accordance with legislative requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work, Community Services, Community Development or a related discipline
- Minimum two years' experience working in specialist family violence, child and family services, youth services or a related sector
- Demonstrated experience supporting children and young people affected by family violence, trauma, abuse and/or adverse childhood experiences
- Demonstrated understanding and application of child-centred, trauma-informed and developmentally informed practice frameworks
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying the MARAM Framework, including responsibilities relating to children and young people
- Demonstrated understanding and practical application of the Victorian Child Safe Standards
- Demonstrated understanding of child wellbeing, child development and the impacts of trauma on children and young people
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues affecting migrant and refugee women, children and young people experiencing family violence
- Demonstrated understanding of culturally responsive practice and the barriers experienced by culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- Strong risk assessment, case management, advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent written communication, record keeping and report-writing skills
- Genuine commitment to social justice and to assisting migrant and refugee women and children
- High ethical standards and values, ability to act with integrity and confidentiality
- Ability to sensitively manage stakeholder relationships
- A level of maturity and professional accomplishment and track record appropriate to the representational aspects of the role
- National Police Check (including an international police check if resided continuously in an overseas country for 12 months or more in the last ten years)
