Job Summary
Partner with Development and Reservoir Engineering to translate multi-year development programs into facility capacity and CTB planning requirements. Lead conceptual engineering for new pad/CTB development, including capacity assessments, tie-in evaluations, and infrastructure gap analysis. Prepare cost estimates and AFE-level economics for capital projects from scoping through detailed estimates, while managing project execution from detailed design through procurement and commissioning. Direct multi-discipline contractors to deliver designs on schedule and budget, reviewing P&IDs, PFDs, and equipment specifications to drive cost and constructability optimization. Manage contract engineering services, ensure designs meet API/ASME codes, and lead construction-phase technical support, RFIs, and field walkdowns. Serve as primary facilities engineering support during commissioning and the post-first-production period, troubleshooting operational issues and evaluating existing facilities for upgrades. Monitor performance data to recommend process changes and collaborate with cross-functional teams on shutdowns, risk assessments, and SOPs. This role supports Chord Energy's upstream surface facility assets in the Williston Basin with a hybrid schedule including remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or related)
- 3+ years of oil and gas facilities engineering experience
- Working knowledge of P&IDs, PFDs, and hydraulic/network modeling (PipeSIM, Pipeline Toolbox, or similar)
- Operations background with understanding of the design, construction, and operation of facility assets
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment
- Flexible with the demands of a growing company
- Efficient in Microsoft 365
- Strong economic and cost-estimating skills
- 20–40% travel to field locations
- Ability to work in active construction environments
Desired Qualifications
- 10+ years of oil and gas facilities engineering experience
- Familiarity with fluid specifications and takeaway capacity constraints across third-party gathering/midstream systems (oil, produced water, gas)
- Central Tank Battery (CTB) design or operations experience
- Experience with capital forecasting, AFE processes, and multi-year development planning
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional/multi-disciplinary initiatives and mentor junior engineers
