Job Summary
Senior Executive Director of Software Engineering leads data platforms and data engineering initiatives across HR and EX domains; responsible for designing and implementing data pipelines and architectures, driving TDQ/BDQ, governance, and the adoption of data product offerings. Partners with Product and Architecture to influence resources, budget, and processes; mentors and manages data engineering teams within a cross-functional environment; ensures SDLC accountability and upskilling of engineers; focuses on modernizing data platforms, security, cost of ownership, and ease of consumption to support enterprise data solutions. Requires formal data engineering training/certification and 12+ years of applied experience, plus 8+ years in leadership of technologists; hands-on experience with Databricks, cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP), Spark/PySpark, Kafka, Terraform, Python/Scala, and BI tools; prior financial services experience preferred, and strong collaboration across HR, EX, and technology stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on Data Engineering concepts
- 12+ years applied experience in data engineering or related field
- 8+ years leading technologists and software engineers
- Hands-on Data Engineering development, testing, and automation
- Experience with Databricks, DBX, PySpark, Spark, AWS, Azure, Terraform, Kafka, Python/Scala, Glue/EMR
- Experience with BI tools (Sigma, Genie, Tableau SaaS)
- Experience with governance tools (Unity Catalogue, Immuta)
- Experience building data pipelines and platforms in cloud environments (AWS S3, Databricks, GCP, Azure)
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and a Product Owner/Manager
- Experience handling large-scale data and internet-scale volumes
- Prior Financial Services experience preferred
