Job Summary
Lead construction estimates from takeoff through bid submission by performing highly accurate quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment across civil, structural, and architectural drawings. Review plans and specifications to identify risks and opportunities, then solicit and review bids from material suppliers and subcontractors. Partner with ownership to compile and review bid forms for public infrastructure projects while participating in pre-construction planning and project hand-offs. Requires 10+ years of estimating experience in self-perform site, utility, water, and wastewater work, proficiency in ProEst or Insite, and a strong network of vendors.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years estimating experience in self-perform site and utility work and/or water and wastewater
- Experience completing lump sum and unit price bids with solid understanding of bid forms and public bidding processes
- Proficient at on-screen takeoff with ProEst, Insite, or similar software
- Strong understanding of plans and specs with ability to visualize the work and accurately anticipate costs
- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple bids simultaneously
- Attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience estimating for a union contractor is a plus
- Strong network of subcontractors and vendors is a plus
