Senior Estimator - Underground Utilities

Job Summary
Acquire plans, specifications, soil reports, and historical bid files to perform detailed cost estimates for underground utility construction projects, including water, sewer, storm drain, and gas infrastructure. Coordinate quantity takeoffs with engineers, solicit subcontractor quotes, and contribute to preliminary schedules to determine pricing timelines for general conditions. Lead the bid process from concept through final submission, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness while reviewing completed estimates with senior management. Work closely with the Vice President of Estimating to assemble organized bid packages and files.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future
- BS in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering
- 10+ years of preconstruction/estimating and/or operations experience on heavy civil construction projects
- 5+ years' experience in underground utilities including storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water distribution systems
- Business Math skills to create and understand estimates and budgets
- Additional math skills necessary to calculate areas, volumes and tonnage
- Ability to read and understand geotechnical reports
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and pricing
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Able to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Strong computer skills including the ability to use estimating software such as OnScreen Takeoff, spread sheets, bid management, online plan rooms and database applications and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook) Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD 3D, and HCSS Heavy Bid
- Possess good organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Resourceful and diligent in seeking solutions to problems and adapting to new situations
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of general civil earthmoving is helpful but not required
