Job Summary
Senior Estimator based in Union, NJ with responsibilities including preparing comprehensive construction estimates for self-performed work (concrete repair, façade repairs, masonry restoration, waterproofing, structural strengthening), analyzing drawings, performing quantity take-offs, identifying scope/specification gaps, developing RFIs, sourcing material pricing and subcontractor pricing, and leading descope meetings; requires strong coordination with owners/clients, ability to mentor others, and familiarity with NY/NJ market and union-influenced contract terms.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management may be given preference
- 5-8 years construction estimating experience
- ability to travel 10-20%
- strong team collaboration to estimate projects of moderate complexity up to $10 Million
- ability to evaluate, quantify and capture specification requirements within the estimate
- experience with terms & conditions in construction contracts
- understanding of NYC DOB regulations; familiarity with NY/NJ market preferred
- proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, OST, BlueBeam
- ability to read blueprints
- travel flexibility (10-20%)
- ability to mentor lower level estimators
- experience with bid forms and qualifications packages
- labor types (union, PLA, Prevailing Wage), insurance (OCIP, CCIP), Bonds (P&P and Bid Bond), W/MBE participation
