Job Summary
Partner with project managers to plan jobs prior to initiation, covering general conditions studies, procurement schedules, and logistics. Develop a comprehensive understanding of project strategy to deploy it throughout the estimating process, ensuring accurate information availability. Establish pre-construction budgets, manage associated funds, and secure the best bids for each trade based on project needs. Structure fair final sub-bid processes by educating all subs on the Shawmut view, including detailed written scope of work and logistics. Present proposals effectively to clients while mentoring and coaching estimators and assistant estimators. This role supports work across Education, Commercial, Corporate Interiors, Life Sciences, Hospitality, Retail, and Sports Venues in the greater Los Angeles market.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years experience in construction estimating
- Vast knowledge of all trades: scope, time frames/field execution, typical missed scope/exposures
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge about estimating processes and delivery methods
- Understand MEP systems and components, and be able to scope and analyze MEP bids
- Solid conceptual estimating experience
- Management experience: coaching, feedback delivery, delegating and mentorship
- Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of contract types and deal structures
