Job Summary
Review blueprints, specifications, and client documentation to prepare accurate, detail-oriented estimates for new structural steel projects and change orders. Collaborate with fabrication, purchasing, pre-construction, and vendor disciplines to determine build methods, material takeoffs, shop labor, field erection, and equipment costs including cranes. Enter all estimates and takeoffs into the in-house computer program while adhering to Schuff estimating guidelines. Work directly with Sales and Pre-construction teams to understand project scope, timelines, and deadlines. Provide alternative recommendations to management when required to meet client needs. Requires 7–10 years of progressively responsible experience estimating structural steel construction projects and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- at least 10 years related experience estimating and bidding on structural steel and heavy plate projects
- BS Degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering or Business
- 7–10 years of progressively responsible experience estimating structural steel construction projects
- Proven experience as a construction or steel estimator
