Job Summary
Prepare budgets and bids for all projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, and proposals to quantify labor and materials. Lead or perform estimates for multi-discipline projects, solicit subcontractor quotes, and review bids to determine total project costs. Supervise estimators, lead strategy meetings with vendors, and manage risk and contract responsibilities. Examine construction sites to observe challenging conditions and monitor estimated costs against actuals. Conduct continuous preconstruction on awarded projects while ensuring accuracy prior to formal quotation. This hands-on role requires navigating active job sites with uneven terrain and lifting materials up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be detail-oriented, technically sound, and comfortable working extended hours during critical phases.
Required Qualifications
- 8-10+ years of estimating and cost control related experience
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, a related discipline or relevant work experience
- Demonstrate the ability to either lead or be a part of a team for multiple projects and pursuits at any given time
- Knowledge of On Screen Take-off, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam software
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
- Must be detail oriented, technically sound and have good communication skills
- Must be familiar with both conceptual, detailed, and self-perform estimating
- Knowledge and experience with local subcontractor market
- Must be currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis
- Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
