Job Summary
Senior Estimator for Municipal Infrastructure projects leading cost estimation from concept through tender and construction start. Responsibilities include preparing and coordinating full-cost estimates for all project phases, leading estimating workshops, performing detailed take-offs (material, labour, equipment, subcontractors), establishing unit costs, negotiating bids with subcontractors/suppliers, conducting value-engineering reviews, providing constructability advice, tracking estimated vs. actual costs, and building strong client/subtrades relationships. Requires 15+ years of commercial construction estimating, minimum 5 years with a general contractor, ICI/residential/healthcare experience, post-secondary degree/diploma in construction/engineering, advanced Excel and cost-estimating software proficiency, and strong organizational, analytical, and communicative skills.
Required Qualifications
- 15 or more years of experience in commercial construction estimating
- Minimum of 5 years of experience estimating for a general contractor not self performing developer
- ICI, residential, recreational, healthcare experience
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction/engineering or an appropriate field
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and process discipline; advanced Excel and cost-estimating software proficiency
- Organized & Detail-Oriented: thrives under tight deadlines, balancing multiple priorities
- Analytical & Technically Strong: proficient in reading drawings/specs and in cost modelling
- Collaborative: excels in consensus-building within diverse project teams
- Communicative: confident in presenting and defending cost recommendations
