Job Summary
Prepare accurate, timely full-cost estimates for commercial interior renovation and office fit-up projects by analyzing proposals, site conditions, and design specifications. Establish scope requirements and articulate overall costs while liaising with engineers, architects, and subcontractors to manage adjustments. Generate standardized proposals for Stipulated Price, Design-Build, and Construction Management formats, requesting trade quotations and tracking follow-ups. Identify missing information in specification packages and recommend cost-effective solutions based on schedule, quality, and material availability.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of commercial construction/building experience
- Minimum of 3 years of project estimating experience
- Proven experience of successfully working internally with an operational team and externally with Clients, Architects/Engineers, and subcontractors
- Strong knowledge of Chartered Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) standard method of measurement – elemental/trade
- Knowledge of Standard contract conditions – CCDC
- Exceptional knowledge of Excel
- Exceptional knowledge of Bluebeam
- Exceptional knowledge of estimating software
- Strong Computer proficiency (MS Office, MS Project)
- Knowledge of Canadian building codes and standards
- Strong understanding of architectural, structural, interior, mechanical, electrical drawings
- Understand contractual terms and conditions
- Active experience in the construction market
- Established sub-trade relationships
- Technical degree/diploma/certificate in Architectural, Construction or Civil Technology, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Science or in a related field
- Working towards Professional Quality Surveyor (PQS) designation or member of Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
- Valid Drivers License
