Job Summary
Senior Estimator responsible for leading RFQ/proposal management and cost estimation for capital equipment and tooling in automotive manufacturing. Develop detailed, competitive proposals by analyzing RFQ scope, customer specifications, and engineering drawings; define manufacturing processes and sequences; coordinate with process engineering and controls teams; prepare presentations explaining proposed processes, systems, and project requirements; source competitive materials and services; and collaborate with VP Operations, process engineers, sales, and project managers to ensure on-time, profitable project delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (Engineering or Business) or equivalent experience highly desired
- 7+ years of estimating and proposal experience required
- Ability to comprehend customer requirements from specifications / RFQ’s and integrate each into competitive project estimates and detailed proposals required
- General assembly machine or metal assembly experience required
- Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes required
- Understanding of Project Management tools and procedures as they relate to the development of (Design/Build/Install) manufacturing systems required
- Engineering Change / Cost Change Experience and the ability to effectively negotiate with customers
- Ability to read Blueprints (Product / Machine Detail / Machine Layouts / Facility) required
- Experience with Control and Mechanical estimation experience highly desired
- MS Office: Computer Proficiency with standard software packages, including Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook and Excel
- Must have the ability to create formal proposal documents that are presentable to our customers (Word Documents, PowerPoint, Project etc.).
- Ability to create and / or use costing templates (Excel) and provide; Detail summaries (Total Cost- Labor/Material/Outside Services), what-if scenarios in relation to overall Project Margin (using Direct O/H, Variable Cost & Profit Drivers)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with customers and suppliers in a professional manner
- Demonstrated detail orientation, judgment, and problem-solving skills
- Must have the ability to work independently, prioritize and balance multiple proposals and coordinate customer directed quote timelines to ensure timely completion with minimal supervision
