Job Summary
Senior Estimator for heavy civil construction responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for private and public sector projects from $50M to $100M. Role covers infrastructure work including highways, bridges, sound barriers, waterlines, sewers, storm drains, and dry utilities across Inland Empire, High Desert, and Coachella Valley. Core duties include analyzing drawings/specifications, recording site conditions, performing take-offs, applying advanced mathematical calculations to ensure cost accuracy, presenting estimates and leading bid reviews with senior management, and communicating bid information to field operations. Leads and mentors estimating staff, develops relationships to increase regional bid opportunities, and participates in design-build preconstruction and means-and-method discussions to drive competitive estimates. Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 10+ years estimating experience in heavy civil projects, with proficiency in MS Office, AGTEK Take-off, Primavera P6, and HCSS HeavyBid, plus strong interpersonal and DBE knowledge. Willingness to travel for IP/JV bidding opportunities and to work in a salaried, full-time role with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience
- 10+ years estimating experience including heavy civil structures, sound barriers and bridges, underground work such as waterlines, sewer lines, storm drains, and dry utilities
- Prior management experience required
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AGTEK Take-off and Primavera P6 or other scheduling software
- Advanced knowledge of HCSS HeavyBid estimating software
- Advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles
- Advanced knowledge of construction principles and equipment capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of agency DBE requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
- Travel to other regions in the country for IP/JV bidding opportunities which require air travel and overnight stays
