Senior Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction/Bridge & Highway

Job Summary
Lead estimating discussions for major highway, bridge, and transportation infrastructure projects from concept through bid submission. Conduct comprehensive quantity takeoffs, build green sheet estimates, and develop construction schedules and risk matrices. Review plans, specifications, and addendums to identify errors, discrepancies, and solutions while obtaining clarifications from owners or engineers. Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and field personnel to adjust unit costs and manage pre-bid meetings. Maintain continuous education in construction technologies and standards, including FDOT specifications and commodity prices.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience
- Minimum 2 years of field experience in Heavy Civil Construction
- Knowledgeable in contract delivery methods: design-build, design-bid-build, Lump Sum
- Contract experience with: FLDOT/turnpike, cities/counties, airport authority
- Self-motivated
- Willing to collaborate with peers
- Willing to teach young engineers
- Willing to constantly strive to identify problems and solutions
- Located within the North FL/Jacksonville radius
- Eligible for hybrid work arrangement
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction
- Projects valued between $20M - 300M+
- Demonstrated experience in estimating DOT, highway, roadway, bridge, or transportation infrastructure projects
- High work values, integrity, and ethical standards
- Great focus to meet and exceed company requirements and expectations
- Good organization skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have knowledge in bridge and roadway construction
- Savvy in Florida soil (rock/clay), foundations, concrete structures, temporary structural systems, underground and utility work, earthwork, signalization, roadway lighting and signing, intelligent transportation system, safety standards
- Knowledgeable in design-build and design-bid-build contracts with FDOT and Turnpike Enterprises
- Strong understanding of earthwork, grading, drainage, asphault paving, concrete, structures, utilities, MOT, and highway construction practices
- Proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
- Ability to manage multiple pursuits while meeting strict bid deadlines
- Teaching, and mentoring skills
- 30-Hour OSHA training
- Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Scheduling software, P6 Primavera
