Job Summary
Prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive bids for large-scale institutional, commercial, and complex construction projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Lead detailed quantity take-offs and cost analyses using industry-standard software to identify scope requirements, risks, and value engineering opportunities. Build relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, developers, and Indigenous relations to secure pricing and ensure alignment with project specifications. Mentor junior estimators, collaborate with project managers and stakeholders on pre-construction planning, and evaluate market conditions to develop proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years of drywall estimating experience
- Strong focus on institutional, commercial, healthcare, education, or other large-scale complex projects
- Extensive knowledge of drywall systems, steel stud framing, acoustic ceilings, fire-rated assemblies, and interior finishing systems
- Demonstrated experience preparing estimates for large and complex projects with significant construction budgets
- Proficiency in estimating software preferably On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid
- Familiarity with other industry-standard software (e.g., Planswift, Bluebeam)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
- In-depth understanding of drywall construction techniques, materials, and industry best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to accurately interpret project plans and specifications
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines
- Proven ability to identify problems, analyze root causes, and develop practical solutions
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools responsibly and in compliance with company policies
- Ability to disclose when AI tools have been used in the creation of work
- Must not present AI-generated content as solely their own original work
- Must have an official virtual or in-person interview prior to offer stage
