Job Summary
Support leadership or manage the production of accurate and comprehensive estimates for projects and programmes, ranging from order of magnitude to detailed estimates. Provide estimating assurance, develop major programmes estimating strategies, and contribute to bids for new work while acting as a role model for less experienced staff. Stay abreast of technical developments to offer best practice advice and actively help develop Defence estimating across the business. This role requires a Senior Estimator with proven Defence sector experience, including compilation of complex cost models and work within an integrated Project Controls team. Candidates must be a Sole UK National with UK MoD Security Clearance. SOX control responsibilities may apply. Turner & Townsend supports the Ministry of Defence and strategic suppliers across the UK, delivering technical project management services to major global clients.
Required Qualifications
- Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering
- Experience of working in the Defence sector
- Demonstrable and proven experience in Compilation, assurance and delivery of complex estimates and cost models
- Experience working within an integrated Project Controls team
- Experience with Public sector projects
- Excellent and flexible skills in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel, Work, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience of working in a client-facing environment
- Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level
- Experience in early stage estimating in complex / major Defence Infrastructure programmes
- Familiarity with industry-standard estimating software packages
