Job Summary
Senior Environmental Technical Claims Specialist adjudicates high-complexity commercial environmental claims (primarily storage tank-related) and contributes to achieving favorable financial outcomes for clients and the company. Responsibilities include detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation, reporting on trends to underwriters, evaluating policy coverage, interviewing involved parties, managing litigation, setting reserves, identifying loss drivers, coordinating expert resources, preparing documentation, applying creative solutions for cost-effective resolutions, negotiating effectively within authority, handling correspondence, and maintaining strong client focus. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, seven years of relevant claims experience with significant exposure, licensed claims examiner credentials, and strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. JD preferred; this role is in-office with potential for US-wide remote consideration in a continental US context; sponsorship of visas is not offered.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required
- Licensed Claims Examiner (Based on state)
- Two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience adjudicating commercial environmental claims beyond the minimum experience required above may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- Minimum of seven years’ experience adjudicating commercial environmental claims with exposure of $100,000 or more
- Ability to obtain needed licenses within 120 days where required
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships
- Strong negotiation and claims-management skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and relevant software
- Fluency in reading/writing English
- J.D. preferred
