Job Summary
Maintain assigned areas and equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment through cleaning, disinfecting, and organizing patient rooms, hallways, common areas, and workspaces. Provide functional supervision by assigning daily tasks to Environmental Services staff, monitoring quality and timeliness to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Train and orient new team members while responding promptly to spills, urgent cleaning needs, and service requests from clinical staff. Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies, applying knowledge of infection prevention practices and chemical handling. This First shift role at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and effective communication within a diverse, 183-bed not-for-profit healthcare facility.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to supervise and support a team
- A detail-oriented individual who can maintain high cleanliness standards in a healthcare environment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and provide clear guidance to staff
- Knowledge of infection prevention practices and proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment
