Senior Environmental Scientist

Job Summary
Lead technical delivery of environmental assessment, compliance, remediation, and management projects across energy, resources, infrastructure, and heavy industry sectors. Plan, coordinate, and manage environmental investigations including soil, groundwater, and vapour assessments while reviewing data to develop robust recommendations. Author and review technical reports such as contaminated land assessments, remediation action plans, and environmental approvals. Provide technical leadership and quality assurance for project teams, coordinate subcontractors during field works, and engage directly with clients and regulators to resolve issues. Contribute to proposal preparation and scope development while supporting junior staff through technical guidance. This flexible Brisbane-based role involves a mix of office, home, and field work with periodic travel throughout Queensland and Australia.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Soil Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
- Approximately 7-10 years' experience in environmental consulting or a closely related technical role
- Demonstrated experience undertaking and managing contaminated land investigations, environmental site assessments and remediation projects
- Strong understanding of the ASC NEPM and Queensland contaminated land regulatory framework
- Experience managing environmental field programs, including soil, groundwater and surface water investigations
- Demonstrated experience leading the preparation and review of high-quality technical reports and client deliverables
- Proven project management experience, including management of scope, schedule, budget and project risks
- Current Australian driver's licence and the ability to work in Australia
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working across multiple environmental service areas such as compliance, approvals, environmental management, due diligence or remediation would be highly regarded
