Job Summary

Senior Environmental Professional responsible for providing senior technical review, oversight, and sign-off on environmental assessment, remediation, and reclamation projects across Alberta. Role includes leading technical groups, communicating best practices, mentoring staff, direct client communication, budget and schedule management, data analysis, technical reporting, and health & safety leadership. Predominantly office-based with occasional site visits; opportunity to mentor staff and support project requirements. Involves proposals/work plans development, project coordination and execution, and interaction with clients to maintain high satisfaction. Must have strong knowledge of Alberta regulations and experience with oil and gas facilities, federal projects, and remediation techniques.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a degree or a technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or environmental related studies
  • Ideally 15+ years of experience in contaminated site work including managing, leading, and directing environmental site assessments (Phase I, II, and III ESAs), soil, soil vapour, and groundwater sampling, and remediation programs
  • Experience working on and reviewing complex assessment and remediation programs at hydrocarbon and salinity impacted sites
  • Experience working on federal government projects and in the energy sector (upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas facilities) are significant assets
  • Experience with various emerging contaminants of concern including PFAS is a significant asset
  • Experience with various remediation techniques (e.g. excavation, in-situ and ex-situ bioremediation, chemical oxidation, soil vapour and multi-phase extraction, monitored natural attenuation), risk assessment and reclamation is an asset
  • Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements unique to oil and gas facilities, construction sites, subsurface investigations, and contaminated sites
  • In-depth knowledge and experience working with provincial and national regulatory frameworks (AEPA, AER, and Federal Regulations)
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status and regulatory sign-off capability for contaminated site assessment and remediation work in Alberta with APEGA (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., P.Tech, etc.) is required, with the ability to register with other provincial associations
